If you want to become a Pool Safety Inspector (PSI) in Queensland, you must successfully complete the 11067NAT Course in Swimming Pool Safety Inspections course before you can apply for a license with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).

Course:

The 11067NAT Course in Swimming Pool Safety Inspections is a nationally accredited course approved by the QBCC.

This Course is for any individual who is wanting to pursue a career in the important industry of pool safety. This industry has been established to save lives.

Our expert trainer has experience in training people of various background including:

There are no pre-requisite requirements for enrolment in this course, so it is suitable and open to any individual who is passionate about pool safety

There are no pre-requisite requirements for enrolment in this course and students from various backgrounds including swimming pool technicians, building and pest inspectors, builders, fencing installers are eligible to participate with no qualifications or experience.

This course is delivered via Webinar. Your expert trainer will deliver the course ‘live’ exactly as would usually be delivered ‘face to face’ however there is no need for you to travel to the class room. 

A short amount of pre-course preparation is required (approximately 30 minutes) and will be sent to you upon enrolment in the Course.

All of your Written assessment will be completed during the course, with a short video required to be prepared at the conclusion of the course demonstrating your ability to inspect a pool barrier for compliance with the pool safety standard.

Course outcomes:

During the course you will learn the pool safety laws and how to apply these in the role of a Pool Safety Inspector when conducting an inspection of a regulated pool, for the issuing of a pool safety certificate or nonconformity notice. The completion of this course will result in you receiving a certificate, allowing you to apply for your Pool Safety Inspectors licence via the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).

The following units will be covered during this course:

  • Read and interpret legislation such as the Building Act 1975

  • Plan for the inspection including using the Pool Safety Register for the issuing of Pool Safety Certificates

  • Apply the pool safety standard in deciding whether a pool is a complying pool

  • Gather and maintain evidence appropriately

  • Apply the Code of Conduct for Pool Safety Inspectors

  • Report on inspection outcomes in the manner and timeframe prescribed by legislation

  • Provide inspection outcomes and options for rectification action with pool owners

  • Notify the local government of any failure by the pool owner to request a re-inspection

  • Keep records of inspections in the accordance with legislative requirements

  • Apply business skills to assist you in managing your inspections

  • Apply for your Pool Safety Inspectors licence via the QBCC

  • How Coronial inquest findings demonstrate the important role of a Pool Safety Inspector by contributing to child safety
